History of World Food Safety Day

This is the third year that the world is going to organize this day. In the year 2018, it was announced by the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate World Food Safety Day and since then this day has been organized every year on 7 June. Due to the Corona epidemic, this day was organized online last year. This year also it is to be celebrated online.

Importance of Food Safety Day

Food security ensures that every step of the food chain is completely secure, from the time the food is consumed to the production, storage and distribution of the food. Because of this, the importance of Food Safety Day increases. According to the World Health Organization, one in 10 people get sick every year from contaminated food or food containing bacteria. If seen according to the population of the world, then this figure crosses 60 million. About three million people die each year from food and waterborne diseases in developed and developing countries around the world.
