WhatsApp's own message disappearing feature will work like this

WhatsApp will bring this Disappearing Messages feature for both individual chat and group chat. However, this feature will not work on forwarded messages.

WhatsApp put Disappearing Messages feature information on FAQ page

This new feature will come for Android, iPhone, KaiOS

It will make the message disappear in only 7 days

The WhatsApp disappearing feature is set to be rolled out to users soon, a hint received through a recently published FAQ page. Let us know, the information about this new feature was initially revealed last year, in which users can disappear the message from their chat within seven days. WhatsApp will bring this message dispensing feature for both individual chat and group chat. However, this feature will not work on forwarded messages. Apart from this, WhatsApp cannot prevent users from copying and saving messages through its message dispensing feature.

The details of the details available on the FAQ page are first made public on the WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, which states that the WhatsApp Disappearing Messages feature will be limited to a period of only 7 days. Users will not have a customized option to make the message disappear on their behalf, like the feature found on Telegram. This is different from the initial version of the feature, which was seen in the public beta release of WhatsApp for Android last year. That version allowed a message to disappear after a set time period.

WhatsApp has also informed that the new feature will not affect the messages you have sent or received before. Apart from this, even if the user did not open the message sent within seven days, he will still display the message in the notification but whenever he tries to open the chat and read the message, the message will have disappeared by then .

If you send a dispirting message, the person receiving the message can take a screenshot of the message or even copy or save it before it disappears. Therefore, WhatsApp has advised users to send messages to trusted people using this feature. It is also mentioned in the FAQ that if this feature of missing messages is enabled, the media files sent in the chat will also disappear automatically. Such information was also revealed last month. However, if the person receiving the message has enabled auto-download in their phone, then the media file will be saved in their phone.

Apart from the information provided on the FAQ page, WhatsApp has also created some dedicated pages on its site, by which users can learn how to follow any new feature from their Android, iPhone and KaiOS to the web by following step-to-step. And you can enable it on Desktop.
