Chinese President Xi Jinping will take part in the summit of the Council of Heads of State of SCO in a digital manner and put forward his proposal for strengthening solidarity, mutual trust, multilateralism and progress of group countries in the post-Kovid-19 era. Russia will organize the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit via video link. Russia will also organize a meeting of leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa (BRICS) on 17 November in a digital way.

Addressing the media on Thursday about Xi's presence at the SCO summit, China's Deputy Foreign Minister Li Yucheng said that the Chinese President along with other leaders will tackle risks and challenges with new perspectives, enhance security, stability and development. We will discuss the steps.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the summit on November 10 in a digital way. Modi and Xi will participate in a multilateral meeting for the first time since the deadlock on the border in eastern Ladakh began in May. The Deputy Foreign Minister denied bilateral talks in this meeting as the summit would be held in a digital manner. He expressed the hope that in the post-Kovid-19 round, face-to-face meetings will be held.

He said that President Xi would propose to strengthen solidarity, mutual trust, multilateralism and progress of the group countries in the post-Kovid-19 era. The Deputy Foreign Minister said that in the post-pandemic period, SCO countries will discuss effective ways to resume economic activities, ensure stable supply and production link.

China dominates the eight-nation SCO. This regional group represents 42 percent of the world's population and 20 percent of the global GDP. China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are founding members of the SCO. The SCO is headquartered in Beijing. India and Pakistan joined this group in 2017.
