This service is starting for the first time in railways
Speaking to ABP News, General Manager of North and North Central Railways, Rajiv Chaudhary said that “Railways are constantly striving to increase revenue through new measures. Working in this direction, the Delhi Division has recently set a milestone by awarding contracts for App Based Bags on Wheels service under Non-Rent-Revenue Acquisition Scheme (NINFRIS). " This will be the first of its kind service for railway passengers on India Rail.
Booking will be done with the BoW app
On the BoW app (will be available for Android and iPhone users), the passengers will fill the prescribed details to bring their goods from their home to the railway station and from the railway station to the home. The work of transporting the passenger's luggage safely and according to the booking details of the passenger will be done by the contractor.
Senior citizens, single women and PwDs will get special benefit
According to the railway, door-to-door service of goods will be made available to the passengers on nominal charges. In the firm, his luggage will be picked up from the passenger's house and will be transported easily in the train to his coach and from his coach to his house. This service will prove very beneficial for the railway passengers, especially senior citizens, differently abled people and women passengers traveling alone. The special feature of this service is that the delivery of goods will be ensured before the train runs. Passengers will experience a different type of journey by getting rid of the hassle of bringing / carrying luggage to the coach.
Initially the service will start in Delhi NCR
Initially, this service will be available for passengers boarding from New Delhi, Delhi Jn, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi Cantonment, Delhi Sarai Rohilla, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon railway stations. This service will not only benefit the passengers, but the railways will also get a non-fare revenue of Rs 50 lakhs per annum, as well as a 10% share for a period of one year. The passengers of Indian Railways have so far enjoyed the Palace on Wheels service, now they will also be able to enjoy the bags on wheels service.
