Transport Department of Karnataka has said that the driving license will be suspended for three months for driving a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet in the state. The Commissioner of Transport and Road Safety, in a letter dated October 16, has asked all regional transport officials and assistant regional transport officials to collect fines from those not wearing helmets under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the driving license will be suspended for three months. .The officials have been asked to take all necessary steps to implement it with immediate effect.

The letter said that the decision was taken following the directions of the Road Safety Committee appointed by the Supreme Court. The committee had a meeting with the Chief Secretary and other stakeholders to control the road accident.
