English Skill is the need for today's youth: Dr Birbal Jha

To mark the occasion of World Youth Skill Day, a public discourse on English Skills was organised today at British Lingua, the premier institute of imparting spoken English training and courses. “Specialising in communication skills in the country was the thrust of the discussion. The discourse was held at the Delhi centre of the institute located at Laxmi Nagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Birbal Jha, noted author said "Today's youth need to equip themselves with current set of skills to meet the requirements of job markets, establishing a proper reconciliation between demand and supply."

"Soft skills which include English communication skill hold 80 per cent weight in job interviews as selection criteria and even the success of self-employment largely hinges on it", added Dr Jha who has been championing the cause for the last twenty-five years.

"English Speaking in India is no longer elitist but is a  social need for uplifting the lifestyles of the deprived section of the society as it paves the way for wide range of opportunities and employment." added Dr Jha heading British Lingua.

A volley of questions was put before the panel of discussion on the subject by hundreds of youth who participated in the event on the occasion.

World Youth Skill Day is celebrated every year on 15th  July to remind the people all across the world to recognise the  value of skills in their  life.

Dr Birbal Jha has recently penned a book' English for Social Justice in India' which expounds how English Skill is instrumental in liberating from the shackles of poverty and ensuring the prosperity and advancements. The book further presses for equal opportunities of employment for all, invoking the article 16 of the Constitution of India.
