Rajeev Gauba to be the Next Home Secretary

Modi government reshuffled the country's top bureaucracy on a large scale Wednesday night. The Government has deployed new secretaries in 16 departments. Urban Development Secretary Rajiv Gauba will be the next Home Secretary of the country. He will replace Rajiv Maharishi. Maharishi's two-year term is being completed on August 30. Gauba will hold the post of Home Secretary from August 31. Till then, he will be deployed as an OSD in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Gauba, an IAS officer of the 1982 batch of Jharkhand cadre, will have the second term in the Home Ministry in the Modi government. For the first time as an additional secretary, he had taken the praiseworthy steps related to Naxalism. During that time, he played an important role in preparing the surrender policy of the Naxalites.

Aware of the ground reality of Naxalism

The Central Government is making efforts to overcome the menace of Naxalism. Gauba, who hails from Jharkhand, a state largely affected by naxalites, understands the situation of Naxalism. They have handled wings related to Naxalism and issues related to Jammu and Kashmir in the Home Ministry. Therefore, he can play  a significant role in creating new policies and action plans for controlling Naxalism. This will be his plus point as Home Secretary. Gauba also played an important role in the implementation of mobile and e-governance while maintaining additional secretary in the IT department.
