In fact, the Bombay High Court bench has asked tough questions from the Maharashtra government and the jail department for releasing actor Sanjay Dutt early in the scheduled time.

Another term of sentence

The court has asked how the good behavior of Sanjay Dutt was assessed. Apart from this, the court wants to know how he was released when he spent half of his sentence on parole outside. This can lead to new difficulty for Sanjay Dutt. And if the case gets caught, then they may have to go to jail again.

Length of sentence

It is worth noting that Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to five years in prison for possessing arms. These weapons were a part of the consignment used in 1993 blasts. Sanjay Dutt, who is on bail during the trial, surrendered in May 2013 after retaining his conviction by the Supreme Court. Dutt was released in February 2016 in view of his good conduct in Yerawada jail, Pune, eight months ago.

What criteria were considered

The Bench of Justice RM Sawant and Justice Sadhana Jadhav was hearing the PIL on Monday, Pardeep Bhalker, Pune resident. Bhalekar challenged Dutt to give him parole and furlooms when he was serving the sentence. The court asked the state government to file an affidavit, which mentions what parameters were considered while performing softness with Dutt and what was adopted.

A week later hearing

Justice Sawant said, Did the DIG, imprisonment be consulted, or the jail superintendent sent his recommendation directly to the governor? He said, also tell us how did the officials evaluate that Dutt's conduct was good? When he stayed on parole for half the time, when did the authorities get the time to assess such a thing? The court will hear further hearing a week later.

How much parole
Dutt spent one and a half years in jail during the probe and the long hearing. The TADA court of Mumbai on July 31, 2007 had sentenced to six years imprisonment and sentenced to 25,000 rupees under the Arms Act. The Supreme Court upheld the verdict in 2013, but reduced the sentence to five years. Dutt then surrendered to rest the rest of the sentence. Dutt was given a parole of 90 days in December 2013 during the jail sentence. Later, 30 and day parole was given.
