NCRTC said - Permission granted through prescribed procedure

The Chinese company (Chine Company) has been awarded a contract for a section of the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) amid the ongoing dispute over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China (China). In June last year, the lowest bid was made by the Chinese company for the project, but the contract was put on hold due to ongoing dispute over the border.

The company will build 5.6 km underground tunnel

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has awarded the contract for a part of the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) to the Chinese company Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Company Limited (Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Company). This company will build 5.6 km underground stretch between New Ashok Nagar to Sahibabad.

'Permission following prescribed procedure and guidelines'

Talking to the Indian Express, NCRTC spokesperson told, 'It was bid by many agencies and approval has to be taken at various levels for it. This bid was allowed only after the prescribed procedure and guidelines. He further said, "To complete this project on time, construction work is going on fast on the 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor."

What is Delhi-Meerut RRTS project

The Central Government approved the Semi High Speed Rail Corridor between Delhi and Meerut in February 2018. To complete the 82.15 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), it will cost a total of Rs 30,274 crore. After the completion of this project, the time taken for the journey to Delhi and Meerut will be reduced. The 82.15 km long RRTS will have 68.03 km of elevated and 14.12 km of underground.

India-China dispute going on for 8 months

Explain that the dispute over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China started in May last year, when China raised objections towards the construction of road in the Galvan Valley of Aksai Chin in Ladakh. On May 5, a military standoff broke out after a violent skirmish between the Indian Army and Chinese troops. After this, Chinese soldiers also got involved with Indian soldiers at Nathu La in Sikkim on 9 May, in which many soldiers were injured.

On 15 June, there was a clash between India and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh, in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed. After this, many level talks have been held between India and China, but no solution has been found on the deadlock.

Threat bell for South Korea, more deaths than birth

During the year 2020, there have been more deaths than births in South Korea for the first time. This has increased the concerns of this country. South Korea is already the country with the lowest birth rate in the world.

In the year 2020, only 275,800 children have been born in South Korea. This is 10 percent less than the year 2019. At the same time, about 307,764 people died in South Korea last year.

The current data has once again forced South Korea to think over its policies. The Home Ministry of the country has spoken of 'fundamental changes' in its policies in view of this.

While there is increasing pressure to spend more revenue on health services and pensions due to the increasing population with increasing age, there is a shortage of workers in the country due to decreasing population of youth.

Both of these reasons are directly impacting the economy of the country.

Last month, President Moon Jae started several policies to deal with the problem of low birth rate. In this, initiatives like giving cash to families have also been started.

Under this scheme, 20 lakh won (South Korean currency) will be given to parents on every child born from 2022. Apart from this, three lakh won per month will be given till the age of one year. From 2025, this amount will be increased to five lakh won.

What is the reason for the declining population

In South Korea, women on a large scale struggle to strike a balance between work and other necessities of life.

Hoon-u-kim is one of them. She is the eldest of four siblings. He dreamed of a big family for himself. However, he faced situations that are not suitable for family settlement in South Korea. They are now forced to think again about their decision to have children.

She has recently started a new job and she is now worried about taking maternity leave. "People tell me that it will be safe to focus on making a career first," he told the BBC.

The rising cost of real estate is also an important issue. Kim says that because of rising property prices, young couples are discouraged about settling families.

She says, "It is important for children to have their own home but, it has become impossible in South Korea."

They also do not agree with the amount being given by the government. Kim says, "Raising a child is an expensive job. With the help of a few thousand Won from the government, this problem will not be solved."
